Police say it happened on Saturday in a residential area near Wagonwheel Crescent and 56th Avenue.

“Driving at such excessive speeds in neighborhoods where families live and children play is completely unacceptable,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom. “We take these violations seriously and will continue our enforcement efforts to keep our roads safe.”

Police say the 48-year-old driver, from Surrey, was given a $483 ticket for speeding, and his car was immediately impounded for seven days.

The RCMP is reminding the public that excessive speeds in areas like that are a significant risk to public safety.
